Have fun, but be careful not to drink and drive or do any other stupid stuff like that.
Since I'm still consider a Witness, albeit a weak one, I subscribed myself to just bringing in a dish for the dept's Christmas luncheon.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

when my dad died on november 9th none of my jw family turned to comfort my mother, no phone calls no cards no words of comfort.
its over a month now and still they havent made any contact.
it doesnt really matter since they are all jws on my moms side but dads side of the family are catholic so they were all there to give the strength needed to cope.
There is no genuine Christian love within the WTBTS. Just people blindly following man-made rules by a publishing company that wants more money to continue acquiring property.
And there's never enough for them; a person must keep doing more, more, more!!!!!
Bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so many of us on this forum have criticised the watchtower society for their obscene blood transfusion/fractions policies.
quite right too.. it begs the question though; what are you doing about blood now that you have a more tolerant and informed perspective?
it's a rhetorical question.
Big no, no yet!!!
Actually, the blood doctrine is kind of driven deep into me. Don't think I'll ever donate or accept blood, not even if my life depended on it.
Go to CNN.com, under 'Health', and read about the two, blood donor and the recipient, that died because the 'mad cow' disease was in the donor's blood and passed it on to the recipient. Gosh, even the Pope has admitted some of his ailments were contracted through blood transfussions. No blood for me, thanks!
Did you all know blood is like fingerprints in that there isn't an exact match to your own? No blood thanks. All my blood shall remain inside, of course, 'til I lose enough of it in some tragic event and then it'll be my time to exit.
So, guys, hate to disappoint you all, but about the blood issue I'll go with the available scientific evidence against it and continue to abstain from it.

i used to dread the prospect of having an evening meeting to to go hanging over my head all day long on a major holiday, almost as much as being compelled to ``go out in service.".
how about you?
Hi y'all!
My own personal policy (I have many of those) is that neither go out on service, nor do I attend a meeting that falls on a holiday. Oh, just my own little rebelious thing going on for a few years now.
There's usually pretty neat specials on TV on those days; plus, people really don't want to be bothered on those days.
What usually happens on holidays is that all of us 'spiritually weak' ones gather together in someone's house with the food, drinks, movies etc. The only thing missing is the decorations really.

the answer?
it depends on the context of the film.. .
a number of witnesses in my cong absolutely refuse to watch harry potter.
If you go by the WT's rules, neither because they both have occult/magic connotations.
Having said that, I have you know that my husband (Mr. 'let's play by the rules from now on) and I have watched both part I & II, and anxiously await this weekend to watch part III. Go figure!
We enjoyed them so far. Hope the same for part III.

are we beginning to see that the argument of wether or not we should have gone to war is starting to get a little circular.. there are points to be made on both sides.
in my mind it comes down to wether or not you think that the us should be the policeman for the rest of the world.. i personally still don't think we needed to go to war, even though we did capture saddam, i know, i know, hard to believe.. just think, if i had my way, saddam would still be in power!!!!
is a wmd incarnate.
Lastcall,
I agree! And the U.S. would not interfere EVER with any other Country's affairs. Let its own people solve their problem, not us, under any circumstances.
Then again, that'll never happen. This great nation will keep sticking its nose into everybody's business, getting enough people (foreign and domestic) mad in the process.

when you were a jw,.
did u feel guilty about throwing out old copies of the watchtower even if you had the yearly bound volumes?
my mom won't do it.
Okram,
I hate clutter, so little by little I've managed to throw out old volumes of mags, old books that my husband had in his personal WT library, and even new mags or literature that doesn't get placed in the territory, out they go in the trash. Hubby doesn't even notice some old lit that's missing.
It's kind of fun doing so. I guess all respect is lost on my part for the society's publishings.

Welcome Okram!!!
Looking forward to knowing your story.

this past weekend a relative came over with these ultimate fighting dvds that he bought but he wouldn't sit down and watch city by the sea because it is rated r.
they can be so dense and hypocritical!
when i pointed out to him that his ultimate fighting dvds are un-rated but in my opinion it is far worse to watch people fighting for pure entertainment purposes than it is to see a rated r movie that teaches a great life lesson.
My husband is all into the religion, nevertheless, rated R movies is pretty much all we watch.
Just finished watching Bad Boys II just the other night and we really liked it.
Very, very, very contradicting indeed.
